Worship & Music In our Worship and Music
we seek to provide a place and occasions for worship that offer the
appropriate climate for worshipping Christ: not only in the sanctuary, but
also elsewhere and in small groups. We value worship which
offers both the challenge of variety and the comfort of ritual. We encourage a variety of expressions of
praise and worship through music, sacraments, the spoken and written word,
drama, dance, art and combinations of these. In conjunction with the
Music Director, Adam Scoville, we oversee special music, choirs, and special
programs. We provide for soloists and
instrumentalists where desirable and appropriate, encouraging the talents of
children and youth. A variety of music
styles are incorporated in our congregation’s worship. We are responsible for
evaluating aspects of our congregation’s worship, to enhance and strengthen
it by way of announcements during the service, sharing of joys and concerns,
and facilitating a visitor-friendly bulletin. Our church
season teams in conjunction with the pastor and Minister of Music oversee the
worship plans throughout the year including our plans for Advent, Christmas,
Lent, Holy Week and Easter. Our seasonal teams facilitate the sanctuary
decorations, including flowers placed in honor or memory of loved ones. We give attention to the
public relations/marketing aspect of our worship life including regular
church newsletter articles. |
