Outreach & Concern Our purpose is to work
for the “common good” of all of God’s people through service, advocacy,
education and communication: pulling people together to help others. This involves many volunteers providing
hands and voices, working together toward a common goal – being disciples of
Christ for others in times of need.
This includes providing the congregation an awareness of the needs of
God’s people in the areas of disaster, hunger, homelessness,
underdevelopment, literacy, and poverty.
We challenge the congregation to become involved in solving social
problems by sharing their time, talent and gifts. Some of the areas that we support are: |
Disaster – Homelessness – Habitat for Humanity Hunger – Southwest Ecumenical
Ministries Food Cupboard Needy
Families
– Cameron Community Ministries, Salvation Army, Sojourner House, Alternatives
for Battered Women, Aurora Hospice Public
Education
– School #25 Senior
Citizens
– Kirkhaven Home, Rochester Presbyterian Home World
Other – Prayer Shawl Ministry,
Theological Education, Local Community Monthly Coffee House and a Summer Fun
Fair.
